A static recompilation of the December 2000 prototype of Dinosaur Planet into a native port with enhancements and extensive mod support, using N64: Recompiled and RT64. It needs the prototype ROM.
Dinosaur Planet: Recompiled is a project that uses N64: Recompiled to statically recompile Dinosaur Planet (the December 2000 prototype) into a native port with enhancements and extensive mod support. It uses RT64 as the rendering engine to provide graphical enhancements. Neither the repository nor its releases contain game assets: the original game is required to run it.
It requires a GPU supporting Direct3D 12.0 (Shader Model 6) or Vulkan 1.2 and a CPU with SSE4.1. Unlike traditional N64 ports, it is not based on the source code of a decompilation, although the Dinosaur Planet decompilation project provides symbols and knowledge about the game. The project is only a port of the December 2000 prototype, not an emulator, so you cannot choose a different ROM. It is still a work in progress and lacks some enhancements common in other N64 recomps. There are builds for Windows and Linux. GigaROM hosts neither the port nor any ROM; the download comes from the official page.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
