This policy explains what data GigaROM collects, what we use it for, and what you can do about it. It is written to be understood, not to cover ourselves.
GigaROM is an informational site about retro video games and emulators.
When you browse. Our server automatically logs your IP address, browser type, language, date and time, and which pages you visited. This is the standard log of any web server and we use it for security and troubleshooting.
When you use the contact form. We store the name, email address and message you write, along with your IP address at that moment. We use it only to reply.
When you rate a page. The vote is added to the average. We do not record who voted or link the vote to any person.
We have no user accounts. The site does not allow registration, so we store no passwords or profiles.
We use one session cookie of our own, needed for the contact form and the search box to work. On read-only pages (game entries, listings, articles) the site does not issue that cookie.
Our third-party services may set their own cookies; they are listed below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser. If you block ours, the contact form may stop working.
Google Analytics 4 Measures visits and site usage. Google may collect your IP address and browsing data under its own terms.
Third-party advertising networks. Serves the advertising on the site. It may use cookies and browsing data to decide which ads you see. It is governed by its own privacy policy.
Cloudflare. Delivers and protects the site. It processes the IP address of each visit for that purpose.
We do not sell or hand your data to anyone else.
GigaROM does not host files. Download buttons lead to third-party services. Once you leave our site, the privacy policy that applies is theirs, not ours. We do not control what data they collect.
Contact form messages are kept while they are useful to handle your enquiry. Server logs are rotated periodically. Google Analytics data follows the retention period configured in that tool.
If you are in the European Union or a country with equivalent rules, you may ask us to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data. Write to [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days at the latest.
You can also opt out of Google Analytics by installing the browser add-on Google provides for that purpose.
The site is not aimed at children under 14 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you notice otherwise, tell us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy we update the date in the header. If the change is significant, we announce it visibly on the site.
