Animal Crossing GameCube PC Port (ACGC PC Port)

Native port of Animal Crossing (GameCube) for Windows, based on the ac-decomp decompilation. Playtest version; you need your own US disc image.

Windows

What it is

This is a native port of Animal Crossing (GameCube) built on the ac-decomp decompilation project. The game's original C code runs natively on x86 and a custom translation layer replaces the console's GX graphics API with OpenGL 3.3.

The repository contains no game assets or assembly. The game reads all data directly from your disc image at startup, with no extraction step. It supports Dolphin-format texture packs, resolution up to 4K, VSync and MSAA.

What you need

Your original copy: Your own image of the US Animal Crossing disc (GAFE01_00, Rev 0), in ISO, GCM or CISO format. The project does not include game data.
  • Windows (32-bit program).
  • A GPU with OpenGL 3.3 support.
  • The project's README does not publish further hardware requirements.

How to install and run it

  1. Download and extract the latest release from the releases page (the "Go to the official project" button).
  2. Place your disc image in the rom/ folder.
  3. Run AnimalCrossing.exe. Keyboard controls can be changed in keybindings.ini and SDL2 controllers are detected automatically.

Current limitations

  • Only the US version, Rev 0, is supported.
  • The published releases are called "playtest" (the latest, 0.9.3, is from July 2026).
  • Only a Windows build is available for now.

Port or emulator?

If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a GameCube emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
