An authentic remake of The Settlers I (Blue Byte), a C# port and extension of freeserf, for Windows, Linux, macOS and Android. You need the original DOS or Amiga data files.
Freeserf.net is an authentic remake of The Settlers I by Blue Byte. It is a C# port and extension of freeserf. To avoid copyright issues, the author provides no copyrighted data from the original game, such as music or graphics: to play you need the original DOS or Amiga data files. There are builds for Windows, Linux, macOS (a universal app, Apple Silicon and Intel) and Android; version 2.2.11 was released on 20 October 2026.
You need the DOS data file “SPAx.PA”, where x stands for the language shortcut (for example SPAE.PA for English), or the Amiga files (disk files .adf or extracted files). Game texts are available in English and German, among others. GigaROM does not host the game; the download comes from the official page.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
