A reimplementation of Super Mario World for PC, playable from start to finish. You build it yourself and extract the assets from your own ROM.
smw, by developer snesrev, is a reverse-engineered reimplementation of Super Mario World. According to the project, it reimplements all parts of the original game and several mods made with Lunar Magic, and it can be played from start to end. It uses the PPU and DSP implementations from LakeSnes, with many speed optimizations.
You need a copy of your ROM to extract the assets (levels and images); once done, the ROM is no longer needed. GigaROM hosts neither the project nor the game: the download is the official repository.
smw.sfc.smw.sfc ROM in that folder and extract TCC and SDL2 into third-party.extract_assets.bat to create smw_assets.dat.run_with_tcc.bat: it creates smw.exe and starts the game. Settings are in smw.ini.saves/ and shows a countdown. If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
