A rebuild of the “Jedi Engine” to play Star Wars: Dark Forces on modern systems, with high resolutions, mouselook and mod support. Dark Forces support is complete.
The Force Engine (TFE) is a project that reverse engineers and rebuilds the “Jedi Engine” for modern systems and the games that used it, such as STAR WARS™: Dark Forces and Outlaws. Playing with it adds ease of use and modern features such as higher resolutions and modern controls like mouselook, and makes it easy to run the many community mods designed for the original games. The project will include its own tools, such as a level editor.
According to the project, Dark Forces support is complete and Outlaws is still in development. You need the data from your copy of the game. GigaROM hosts neither the engine nor the game; the download comes from the official page.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
