An open-source reimplementation of Midtown Madness (Sneak Preview Beta / Build 1560), partially rewritten in C++, with an OpenGL renderer, SDL gamepad support and audio, input and crash fixes.
Open1560 is an open-source re-implementation of Midtown Madness Sneak Preview Beta / Build 1560. It is a partial rewrite of Midtown Madness 1 that uses assembly for functions not yet reimplemented in C++. The intention is to allow the fixing of bugs, implementation of new features and porting to platforms unsupported by the original.
Notable changes include an OpenGL renderer, SDL gamepad support, audio fixes, crash fixes, input fixes, stuttering fixes, an improved debug menu, improved performance and improved text rendering. You need the files from your copy of the game. GigaROM hosts neither the project nor the game; the download comes from the official page.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
