Metroid Prime Hunters on PC: MetroidPrimeHuntersRecomp

A public-alpha recompilation of Metroid Prime Hunters (Nintendo DS) for Windows and Linux, built on ndsrecomp. You need your USA revision 0 ROM.

WindowsLinux

What it is

MetroidPrimeHuntersRecomp runs Metroid Prime Hunters (Nintendo DS) as a native recompilation target on ndsrecomp. The project presents it as a public alpha: it is not a finished port and you should expect crashes, hangs, rendering or audio issues and desyncs. It includes early multiplayer support (Wiimmfi, still tentative): a match between two different players has been reached, but online play is experimental.

It distributes no ROM, BIOS, firmware or game data. With the default setup it uses FreeBIOS and generated firmware, so no BIOS dumps are needed. GigaROM hosts neither the port nor the game; the download comes from the official page.

What you need

Your original copy: Your own Metroid Prime Hunters ROM (USA, revision 0, code AMHE). The project does not include game data.
  • Windows (native OpenGL build) or Linux / Steam Deck (AppImage).
  • Your own Metroid Prime Hunters USA revision 0 .nds ROM (code AMHE): only that revision is supported.

How to install and run it

  1. Download and fully extract the Windows ZIP (or the Linux AppImage) from the official page (“Go to official project” button).
  2. Put your USA revision 0 ROM next to the executable.
  3. Run the program and press Play.

Current limitations

  • Public alpha: expect crashes, graphical or audio glitches and input quirks.
  • Online multiplayer is experimental and may desync.
  • USA revision 0 ROM only.

Port or emulator?

If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
