A free, open-source version of the classic Jazz Jackrabbit games, for Windows, Linux, Android and other systems, even in the browser. You need the files from one of the original games.
OpenJazz is a free, open-source version of the classic Jazz Jackrabbit games. It can be compiled on a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, GNU/Linux and BSD flavors, ports are available for some homebrew platforms, consoles and handhelds, and you can even play it in your web browser. With the demise of DOS-based operating systems, emulators became necessary to play these games, and Jazz Jackrabbit deserved more: it would benefit greatly from new features.
Jazz Jackrabbit is a PC platform game by Epic Games (then Epic MegaGames), released in 1994, that won PC Format’s Arcade Game of the Year award. The project was started by AJ Thomson in 2005. To play you need the files from one of the original games. GigaROM hosts neither the engine nor the game; the download comes from the official page.
If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
