WindowsLinuxmacOS

What it is

OpenLoco is an open-source reimplementation of Chris Sawyer's Locomotion, the spiritual successor to Transport Tycoon, a construction and management game that simulates running a transport company. It aims to improve the game the way OpenTTD improved Transport Tycoon and OpenRCT2 improved RollerCoaster Tycoon. The original was written in x86 assembly on top of the RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 engine, but the engine has changed so much that OpenLoco no longer shares code with OpenRCT2.

According to the project, the C++ reimplementation was completed in December 2025 and the current goal is a solid multiplayer experience. It needs the files from your copy of the original game. GigaROM hosts neither the engine nor the game; the download comes from the official page.

Port or emulator?

If your computer does not meet the requirements, you do not have the exact version the port asks for, or you prefer the classic route, you can play the original with a console emulator: see emulators and its install and setup guide.
