A project that rebuilds Carmageddon (1997) to run natively on modern systems. It needs data from the original or its freeware demos.
Dethrace is an attempt to learn how Carmageddon, the 1997 driving and mayhem game, works behind the scenes and rebuild it to run natively on modern systems. It uses CMake to build and SDL2 at runtime, and is available under the GPL-3.0 license.
It ships no content: you need the data from the original game (on CD or bought from GoG) or from the compatible freeware demos: the original demo, the Splat Pack demo and the Splat Pack Xmas demo. GigaROM hosts neither the engine nor the game; the download and the code are those of the official page.
